Inspired Adventures - Cheonggyecheon (청계천) - 2012 Seoul Lantern Festival
Cheonggyecheon is an 8.4 km (~5.2 mi) stream, which flows west to east, that was opened to the public in September of 2005. Lauded as a major success in urban renewal and beautification, it has become a very popular modern public recreation space in downtown Seoul.
While I was there, the annual lantern festival was going on so I went to check it out. It takes place the first half of November every year so if you happen to be there during that time definitely go check it out.
The theme for 2012 was "The Roots of Seoul, the Life of Ancestors" and extended along the stream for about 1.5 km (~0.93 mi) and included over 35,000 lights from around Korea as well as Japan, the Philippines and Singapore.
