Hi Guys!
Glow Recipe has started their Black Friday sale! They have a curated list of select products that are on sale for 40% off (no coupon code needed), which you can find here: https://www.glowrecipe.com/collections/black-friday-40-off, and then they also have a coupon code BLACKFRIDAY25 for 25% off the rest of your purchase that isn't on sale (the code will not apply to the items that are already on sale for 40% off, but it'll apply to the full priced items)...but what's even better is using the code JELLYMASKREVIEW.

I use an extension on my Chrome browser called Honey that automatically cycles through a bunch of known coupon codes to find you the best one and it found that code for me, so I got even more than 25% off the non-sale items, which was awesome. I don't know if it works for everyone, but definitely try that code first before trying the Black Friday code because if I had just stuck with the 25% off Black Friday code I would have only gotten $18.50 taken off my purchase, but because I used the Jelly code that Honey found for me I got $29.28 knocked off my full priced purchases.

Even more exciting though is that my newly beloved holy grail J.One Jelly Cream moisturizer is one of the items on sale for 40% off! Anywho, here is my haul from Glow Recipe. I know I said I was going to cut back and not spend as much this year, but...yeah. What can I say.

In alphabetical order, I got...

Blithe Vital Treatment Essence - 5 Energy Roots
Sephora: https://go.magik.ly/ml/oe4x/

A rejuvenating essence treatment that works to awaken dull, depleted skin with 5 'energy' packed root extracts such as Red Ginseng that harmonize and balance the skin for an even, glowing complexion.

Packed with 5 different types of multi-activating packed root extracts such as Red Panax Ginseng, Grandiflorum Root Extract, Lanceolata Root Extract, Indian Lotus Leaf Extract & Greater Burdock Root Extract to soothe irritated skin and provide a harmonizing treatment, balancing out unevenness in skin coloration and texture. This essence treatment works to deliver hydration and repair depleted skin for a renewed, healthy glow.

WHY: I've already tried and love the 9 Seeds essence and I recently got the 8 Nourishing Beans essence which I'm loving, so I wanted to go ahead and try out the third and final essence in this line...and it's one of the items on sale for 40% off, so what better time than now to give it a whirl.

Blithe Vital Treatment Essence - 9 Essential Seeds

Jet: https://go.magik.ly/ml/oe4y/

A rejuvenating essence treatment that works to brighten dull complexions, lighten dark spots, and maintain even-toned skin while instantly hydrating with 9 superpowered seeds.

Packed with 9 seeds working to reveal brighter skin, this treatment essence can be applied to the face directly after cleansing and toning and followed with a moisturizer. Baobap seed contains high levels of illuminating and brightening Vitamin C, along with extracts of hyper-pigmentation busting Evening Primrose Oil and natural antibiotic Fennel seed, making this treatment ideal for troubled skin types and for those with uneven complexions and dark spots.

WHY: I've been really missing this essence, especially since I feel like my face could use some brightening action, so I got another bottle of this to use. Not one of the 40% off items, but with that Jelly code it pretty much was 40% off.

THOUGHTS: https://ahnspired.blogspot.com/2017/04/blithe-skincare.html

J.One Jelly Cream

Sephora: https://go.magik.ly/ml/oe4z/

A brightening, anti-wrinkle cream in that quickly absorbs into skin, creating a smooth and light barrier to protect the skin.

A thin layer of this lightweight gel texture cream creates a moisture barrier to deeply hydrate the skin without feeling sticky or greasy. Fullerene, a Nobel prize-winning ingredient, acts as an oxygen magnet, protecting against free radicals and plumping skin. A blend of natural citrus and Eucalyptus leaf oils and extracts brighten and energize skin for a smoother, bouncier appearance.

WHY: This is a newer product for me, but I fell hard and fast and was planning on getting backups of this anyway, so I got two. I was gonna get more, but then I got a hold of myself and only got two because as amazing as it is, it's not good to have skincare just sitting waiting to be used, I had already gotten a backup from Sephora and I do have a couple other moisturizer waiting to be tried and tested so I kept myself in check...but this is the time to get one and try it out because 1. it's AMAZING and 2. it's on sale for 40% off.

Oh, and something that I haven't mentioned in my review linked below is that this, amongst all the other amazing stuff it does for your skin, is a godsend for sebaceous filaments. I don't know what kind of sorcery was used to make this, but this totally got rid of the majority of sebaceous filaments on my nose and smoothed it out. My nose has never felt so smooth before. I will be updating my thoughts on this product, but I was wanting to actually wait and use this for a month before updating my thoughts since I was so quick to the draw with my initial review on this, but I just love it so much. It's like magic in a pot.

Make P:rem Blue Ray Sun Gel

https://amzn.to/2YVM39q
***As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.***

A milky, lightweight sun gel that provides broad spectrum SPF 50+ PA++++ UVA/UVB protection while dramatically cooling down skin's temperature.

Make P:rem's Blue Ray line counteracts the damage cause by hot Infrared waves and radiation by cooling down the skin surface by multiple degrees while still providing superior UVA and UVB protection. The milky and watery texture of the sun gel lets you say goodbye to greasy, pore-clogging sunscreens and white casts by drying clear for all skin tones. It's formulated with hydrating Chia seed extracts, calming Centella extract, and brightening Niacinamide in addition to SPF 50+ PA++++ to protect from sun damage. This mattifying sun gel works perfectly under makeup and can be used as a perfecting primer. Ideal for all skin types, especially combo and oily skin.

WHY: Now that I'm working out consistently everyday, which if you haven't seen my health and fitness posts you can catch up with me here: https://ahnspired.blogspot.com//search/label/HEALTH, but since I've been hitting the trails a lot I need some more sunscreen and I figured I would give this one a try. Seems expensive for what it is especially since you only get 75ml of product, but if it's really as lightweight as it claims to be I'm ok with that...whatever makes it not feel like sunscreen, so I will actually use it...I'm willing to pay a little more for that. Plus, it's SPF 50+ PA++++ and protects against both UVA and UVB, so it seems like a good sunscreen. I guess we'll see. There was another sunscreen from Make P:rem that was a part of the 40% off sale, but it was already sold out by the time I went to put in my order...even though the sale just started today, so I got this one instead.

Make P:rem Safe Relief Mist

WHY: Honestly, I got this because it was on sale for 40% off and I love mists. There was no other particular reasoning for why I got this. If it hadn't been on sale I would not have gotten it...but who knows. Maybe it'll be amazing. We'll have to see.

It's a great mist for the winter or for people with dry skin. It's a very hydrating mist that has a heft to it without being heavy. Also it's one of the 40% off items, so I figured I would pick it up again for the winter.

Hey guys!

It's been a hot minute since I've done a haul post, but with the holiday shopping season upon us...you can expect me to make up for that. I probably shouldn't be spending so much money (not because I can't afford it, you should NEVER spend beyond your means, but because I should save and put it to better use), but stuff is so expensive nowadays I feel like those dollars add up real fast. I didn't even get a lot of stuff...at least I don't feel like I got a lot of stuff. Is 6 products considered a lot? Anywho, it still ended up costing so much money even with 20% off.

If I had gotten everything that was sitting in my cart (which was still not everything I wanted) I probably would've spent like $500...and that's without the new Dyson Airwrap set, so I did reign it in and pear down my list significantly. There is one more thing that I wish I would've kept in my cart, or at least traded for one of the other products that I did get, especially since it was limited edition, but it's too late now. The product I wish I would've gotten is the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Shine A Light.

Since the Fenty Beauty isn't limited edition and the Marc Jacobs is, I kind of wish I would've gotten the Marc Jacobs instead and held off on the Fenty until the next VIB sale in the spring, but I was looking at the numbers and trying to bring down my overall spending and the Fenty was cheaper, so I went with that instead...but the gold is so beautiful and probably would've been perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

Anywho, no use lamenting over spilt milk. As for everything else, I am super excited to get and try these out (not that I'm not still excited for my Fenty lip gloss). You'll notice a trend of anti-aging skincare in this haul and that's because I've been really into anti-aging lately. I feel like my skin has suffered and gone through a lot this past year and it's really starting to show, so fingers crossed that I can help to reverse the clock with the help of these products...although I already know that the J.One Jelly Cream is working wonders on my skin.

VERDICT
April 13th, 2017: If you're looking for a brightening product that actually works and is effective, then this will be your best friend. This does such a good job of fading scars, blemishes, dark spots, fighting hyper-pigmentation, etc. When I was having my acne breakout issues this past winter this did an amazing job of fading the acne scars, and dark spots, quickly.

Not only that, but this actually evened out my skin tone as well. My cheeks are usually always red and splotchy for whatever reason. It's always been that way ever since I hit puberty, but this actually cleared that up and made my complexion a lot more even and uniform which was so awesome and amazing. Unfortunately, after my recent skincare hiatus the red splotchiness on my cheeks have slowly crept back into my life, but if you use this religiously every day it will definitely help to even out your complexion. On top of that, this is also very hydrating and brightening as well... as in this will give you a healthy glowing from within radiant complexion.

Like I said, if you're in the market for a very effective and amazing brightening product that will work tirelessly to give you bright, radiant, and even skin then definitely check this out. This definitely is a treatment essence as it's aptly named, and I agree with the description given above in its entirety, which from my personal experience with this product I find to be very accurate, as long as you are using this religiously everyday.

While it is pricey at $42 a bottle, it's definitely worth the money and it does last you a decent while. I use this twice a day (morning and evening), although there have been the occasional lazy days and that recent 2 week skincare hiatus, and I still have about 1/4 or so of the bottle left and I started using it at the very tail end of December...so this will definitely last you at least 3 months if not more. I will definitely be repurchasing this when I run out.

Oh, and this smells really good. It's got a sweet citrus-y scent that I enjoy and find refreshing and while it is still a liquid, this is a thicker liquid that has a viscosity to it...which is probably why it's so hydrating and will last you awhile. It's not a thin liquid, but a more viscous liquid so you don't need to use as much product. Ok, I think I covered all my bases now.

Ugh...I forgot how boring and draining jury duty can be, but anywho...today's post is going to be about the tips and tricks that I introduced and incorporated into my skincare routine to help my skin recover from it's recent freakout in early January.

Some things to know about me before jumping in...

1. I HATE heavy, greasy, emollient, suffocating feeling products.

2. I, for whatever reason, have an immense love affair with toners, essences, and hybrid toner/essences. It's my most favorite step in my skincare routine. I buy more toners and essences than I do ampoules, serums, or creams. If I didn't consciously limit myself from buying ALL the toners and essences that I wanted I would be drowning in them.

3. If you've been reading my blog the last several months then you know that I've been dealing with some skin issues...I've been "breaking out" all over my face, neck and chest since fall/winter 2016. I put "breaking out" in quotes because what I consider a breakout might not be as much of a big deal to someone else, but for me and what my normal is I was "breaking out" badly. It had been coming and going for the past few months, the root and cause of which are still unknown, but it seems to have FINALLY subsided for good.

Now that we've got that out of the way, there are 3 major tips that I wanted to highlight and share that I feel really helped me and my skin to not only recover and get back to my "normal"...minus the left over acne scars, which will fade with time and the help of an awesome new essence that I've been trying, but actually get my skin into the best shape it's ever been in.

1. The Non-Cleanse Cleanse
I heard through the grapevine about how its unnecessary and a bit overkill to cleanse your face with a cleanser in the morning and after much thought I'm inclined to agree. The whole not cleansing in the morning thing...the more I thought about it the more it made sense to me.

Honestly, I don't know about you, but when I'm done with my day and have finished my evening skincare there's not much else that I do other than relax with some TV shows, read, surf the internet, or update the blog before I go to bed. I'm not out in the elements, I'm not sweating up a storm, nor do I have any makeup or sunscreen on my face, it's clean and pretty much stays that way, aside from my evening skincare, so I've started to skip using a cleanser in the morning because for me personally I feel it's unnecessary.

Instead I just rinse my face with water and then go in with my Son & Park Beauty Water on a textured cotton pad to freshen up in the morning, and I feel like that's enough. Cleansers are meant to remove, and if you ain't got nothing to remove (i.e. makeup, sunscreen, dirt and grime, etc.) then I agree that it makes sense to skip it. Of course this is just my opinion and speculation though. I am not a dermatologist or skin expert, but that is the conclusion that I have come to based on the things that I have been told and heard.

Always keep in mind though that everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you. For example, maybe if you're someone with very oily skin then you may want to stick to cleansing in the morning to get rid of the oil and sebum that may have built up overnight, or you like to go for a morning run before you do your morning skincare routine, etc. but for me this is something that seems to be working and I have noticed a difference in my face because of it.

2. The Towel Ban

We all know how bad towels are for our skin and our hair...especially when you use a towel to rub your face or your hair dry. To minimize that, most people probably use their towels to pat their face dry instead. I, however, have decided to skip the towel completely.

Instead, I simply use my hands to pat the leftover water into my face and let my skin absorb the moisture as if the leftover water were a toner or essence. It obviously takes a bit longer to dry, but I feel like it makes a HUGE difference and is so worth it. My face doesn't feel stripped or dry in the slightest afterwards, in fact it actually feels nicely hydrated...my face just drinks up the water and is left hydrated, soft and smooth even though I haven't put anything on my face yet.

I highly recommend giving this method a try. Out of all three tips that I'm sharing, if I had to pick my go to #1 recommendation, I would suggest this one. I will never go back to using a towel on my face again.

3. Layering

So I first started layering toners onto my face last year. If you read my review of Missha's Time Revolution Clear Toner: https://ahnspired.blogspot.com/2016/05/missha.html, then you know I've been layering toners for awhile now.

Since then I've gradually added more toners and essences to my routine because as I mentioned above, for whatever reason, I have an intense love affair with toners and essences and I'm constantly buying more to try and I'm too impatient to wait and finish a bottle before cracking open a new one...but at the same time I don't want to be wasteful and just let a product sit while I crack open a new product to try, so I've just been gradually adding to and layering a bunch of toners and essences on my face.

Then I heard about the latest skincare trend coming out of Korea called the "7 Skin Method" where you put 7 layers of toner on your face. After hearing about that I didn't feel so crazy and insane about layering so many toners and essences on my face because it's an actual thing apparently...although that method is a bit different from what I'm doing. The actual "7 Skin Method" is where you use one product, one toner that you really like and works for your skin and layering that one toner on 7 times. I, on the other hand, am using 8-9 different toners and essences to layer one of each onto my face not just the same one 7 times, so my method is slightly different...and slightly more than just the 7 layers.

Regardless of whether you go the traditional "7 Skin Method" route or deviate from it slightly like me and use several different products to layer on 7 times I think this is an awesome method to incorporate into your skincare routine. My skin ends up looking so plump and hydrated with the most beautiful healthy radiant lit from within glow and has definitely made a huge difference in the texture, brightness and moisture level of my skin.

To me, thinking about it logically, I would compare it to dressing for the cold/snow. I know I mentioned I'm from Hawaii, SoCal, and Vegas so you're probably thinking what the heck do I know about dressing for the cold? But I did spend 4 winters in Boston for college, so I have experienced the cold and snow, which I kind of miss sometimes, but back to the topic at hand, I akin this layering method to layering your clothes in the cold. It's better to put on multiple light layers of clothing vs. just putting one thick piece of clothing on. Several light layers will keep you warmer than one thick piece.

Same concept with the "7 Skin Method". It's an awesome lightweight way to really infuse your skin with moisture without the heaviness (which we all know I HATE) and I feel like it really does make a big difference. If you're someone with very dry skin you can just go in with a nice moisturizer or sleeping pack afterwards, or if you have oily skin I feel like this is sufficient enough and you can get away with just the 7 layers of toners/essences and not have to put on anything more...but again everyone's skin is different and what works for one person may not work for another, so keep that in mind and tailor your skincare to what works for you, but I have been loving the results of this layering method.

I love each product mentioned below and they are all great on their own, but layered together...these are even better and work as a powerhouse combo to really whip my face into shape. My skin has honestly never felt better or looked more healthy radiant and glow-y.

The toners and essences that are in my current lineup, that have been absolutely wonderful, are...

Enprani Dear By Moistfull Booskin

PURPOSE: Love this. I use this first to provide that first layer of moisture and really soften and prep my skin for the onslaught of skincare to follow. I feel like the unique texture really does a great job of prepping my skin to better absorb the products that will be layered on top of it.

OOLU Jasmine Moisture Liquid

PURPOSE: So amazing. As the name states, this is a very moisturizing liquid, and as the description states, I feel like it really does "condition skin so it reaches the optimum level of moisture and oil balance"...among the other things that it does.

Deoproce Green Tea Total Solution Toner

Blithe Vital Treatment Essence - 9 Essential Seeds

Ebay: https://go.magik.ly/ml/bzie/
Jet: https://go.magik.ly/ml/omhs/

PURPOSE: Awesome product that actually works and does what it's meant to do. I use this to brighten my face (aka even out my skin tone) and lighten the acne scars, and I feel like its been doing an excellent job of helping my scars to fade quicker than normal and even out my complexion to make it more noticeably bright and radiant.

Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence

https://amzn.to/2Y0NKkG
***As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.***

PURPOSE: If you've been reading my blog for awhile now then you know how much I love this stuff. It's a skin savior. I rarely repurchase skincare, but I have repurchased this, already have a backup of this, and plan to continue repurchasing this in the future.

Full review can be found here: https://ahnspired.blogspot.com/2016/09/manyo-factory.html

***Another great product to use if you want to go the traditional "7 Skin Method" of using one product and layering it 7 times***

Manyo Factory Bifida Ferment Complex

https://amzn.to/2JV3TTM
***As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.***

PURPOSE: This is another AMAZING essence from Manyo Factory, which I use for skin regeneration and improved skin immunity. If it was still available I would definitely already have a back up and continue to repurchase this to continue to use alongside the above Galactomyces Essence as the two are a powerhouse combo, but sadly it is no longer on Memebox. While I did manage to find it on Amazon the price was ridiculous. It was like more than 2x the price I had paid for the bottle I have now. Next time I see it for a reasonable non-inflated price I will definitely be stocking up on a ton of these.

Nooni's Deep Water Therapy Dual Moisturizing Toner

https://amzn.to/2XTk353
***As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.***

PURPOSE: Love this even more than the other two Nooni toners that I liked. Great way for me to incorporate an "oil" into my routine without feeling greasy. This immediately sinks into the skin and does a great job of providing another layer of moisture to my skin and helping to keep it balanced.

Goodal Moisture Barrier Liquid
Riley Rose: https://go.magik.ly/ml/lwng/

PURPOSE: Another awesome product. I only use this in the evenings though to provide that final layer of moisture and really lock all the previous layers in. It's an awesome multi-tasking product to cap off the multiple layers of toners and essences that I've put on.

I know...that's a lot of product and a lot of layers. You obviously don't have to go as crazy as I did, but this is what's been really working for me. What's sad though is that I still have so many more toners and essences on standby waiting to be tried and tested...but I feel like the 8-9 layers that I have going on right now is more than enough, so I just stare at them longingly. I told you...I have a weird immense love affair with toners/essences and while I absolutely love my current lineup as it's doing such amazing wonderful things for my skin...a part of me can't wait to finish off these bottles so I can crack into some new ones.

Anywho, that's it for now. I hope I didn't come off as too much of a crazy person and that you found this post helpful. Until next time...bye!
