Shu Uemura (Skincare)

Shu Uemura Maxi:Hydrability Moisture Essence-In-Gel

A lightweight moisturizing gel that provides 24-hour hydration for dry skin types. the first all-in-one gel to improve skin’s self-moisturizing ability and leave skin feeling soft, smooth, supple with visibly enhanced translucency.

This refreshing cream with water-splashing texture provides all-day hydration without leaving a greasy residue on the skin. A hydradrench complex opens water-pathway to cells to boost hydration and make skin more resistant to dehydration. Especially suited for oily to normal younger skin types.

HOW TO USE
After cleansing, take an appropriate amount in the palm and apply gently on the skin.

INGREDIENTS
This product is dermatologically and allergy tested.

Shu Uemura has harnessed the power of science and nature with its new HydraDrench complex—consisting of yuzu citrus extract and glycerin—to increase aquaporins (also known as water pathways) in skin cells to boost hydration. The yuzu citrus extract delivers messages to the skin to enhance aquaporin production. Glycerin carries water molecules and helps to deliver water to the skin, while preventing water from evaporating.

Free of: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates

VERDICT
This is totally a dupe of the Lioele Sleeping Pack...or rather the Lioele is an exact dupe of this essence gel since this one's much more expensive...it's $62 for a full size vs. the $16 that the Lioele costs. Anywho, despite the fact that the Lioele is marketed as a sleeping pack and this Shu Uemura is an everyday essence, they both perform EXACTLY the same. It has the exact same slippery silicone-y texture that glides beautifully onto the skin, is also super lightweight, absorbs quickly, isn't sticky or tacky, AND they both form little water dropplets on the skin which was the selling point for me on why I wanted to try the Lioele sleeping pack. I thought it was such a unique and interesting property. The only difference is that the scent isn't the exact same, BUT they smell pretty gosh darn similar.

Just like the Lioele this is very hydrating and lightweight with a barely there feel and leaves you with soft supple smooth skin that lasts all day. I wish I could compare the ingredients, but I got a deluxe sample of this to try which didn't list the ingredients on it and I couldn't find it online.

While it is very nice and does nice things for you skin, I don't know that I would pay the $62 that it costs to get a full size of this. That is pretty pricey...especially since I know it performs the exact same as the Lioele which is soooooo much more affordable compared to this.

Even though they seem to do the same thing and perform the same they are marketed as different things, so maybe there is a slight difference...perhaps because the Lioele is a sleeping pack it won't let layered skincare on top of it penetrate as well? It's great at layering underneath other products, but I have no idea how it performs on a scientific what you can't see with the naked eye level...but on a non-scientific basic look and feel level from personal experience, to me they're the exact same product...so I would say skip the Shu Uemura and just go for the Lioele.
