Alps Edelweiss Ultra Repairing Mask
October 23rd, 2017: It has been a hot minute since I last used a sheet mask, but while I was organizing my room and decluttering I opened my sheet mask drawer and I was completely overwhelmed. It was absolutely stuffed and overflowing to the brim with all the sheet masks that I had bought and never used. I was so good about sheet masking last year, which is when I went sheet mask crazy and was buying them left and right, but I've fallen off the wagon this year and have been more into my actual skincare rather then masking so they've sadly just been sitting there.

After seeing the ridiculously absurd amount of sheet masks that I had, I've decided to get back on the sheet masking wagon. I've also decided that I'm not allowed to purchase any more products until I make a sizable dent in my sheet mask drawer because it's absolutely ridiculous...which will motivate me to use one everyday because Black Friday and the holiday season is fast approaching and I definitely want to be able to do a lot of shopping at that time. Can you believe it's almost November already?!  Anywho, that's not why you're here. You're here to find out my thoughts on the actual product, so here we go!

This sheet mask is made of that super thin stretchy gauzy material that I love. It's stretchy and soft, yet strong and durable and it adheres to the face really nicely. It's got a very faint hint of a scent of something, but honestly you can barely smell it if at all. It's very cooling and calming on the face and very comfortable to wear. While the sheet mask is soaked with a nice amount of essence, it's not drenched to the point where it will be dripping down your neck.

It would've been nice if the mouth hole was just a smidge bigger, but it's fine and the eye holes are sized nicely and comfortably. I do have small eyes, but I think it's a nice enough size to fit most people. If you need a bigger hole though, the sheet mask is easily stretchable with just your fingers so it's a quick and easy fix. As for the actual mask, it's the size of your average standard sheet mask, meaning it didn't cover the entirety of my large face, but it did cover most of it like most sheet masks do.

Upon removal, it does leave behind a nice layer of essence on your face, but not too much. You can easily pat the left over essence into your face, which is then quickly absorbed without any stickiness, tackiness or heaviness...this is a very lightweight essence, so it doesn't feel heavy or suffocating in the slightest. Once absorbed, this sheet mask left my face feeling nicely hydrated, soft and smooth, but more smooth than soft. It also left my face looking and feeling calmer and brighter...it gave me that glowing from within radiance.

Don't know that I would say its the most hydrating mask or the most calming, but it is a really nice overall mask. Here I go with another sports metaphor, even though I'm not big on sports, but this is like a great utility player. It's good at a lot of things, but it's not a superstar in any one category, so this would be a really nice everyday mask to use vs. a special occasion mask.

VERDICT
November 21st, 2016 - Snail Mask: Was made of the same super thin super velvety soft cotton material that I love. Like the other two variations, this too smelled slightly of fermented alcohol but it wasn't that strong and you don't smell it while it's on the face so I was good. It fits nicely width-wise, but falls just the teensiest bit short lengthwise. I feel like there was just a tiny tiny bit more of my forehead left exposed than normal. As for the eye and mouth holes, they are on the smaller side...and I say that as someone who has very small eyes and not so big lips, but it's not a big deal because the material stretches very easily.

This was very cooling and refreshing on the face, and once removed the remaining serum sank in quickly and nicely and wasn't sticky or tacky at all. It definitely did brighten my face as intended and also left it hydrated, smooth and soft.

Snail Repair Cream: This cream, like the other two, also smells like fermented alcohol...but this one is not as strong, thank goodness, and it doesn't smell once it's on the face so the scent didn't bother me like it did with the regular repair mask one.

As for the actual cream, this too was a thick white emollient cream. It did feel slightly heavy initially, but that feeling went away rather quickly as it sank in and absorbed into my face. Once it sank in completely, it wasn't heavy at all...it was nice and lightweight and it wasn't greasy or heavy feeling at all. My face was really nice and hydrated and soft and smooth...and it kicked it up a notch to make my face appear even brighter than it already was from the sheet mask.

OVERALL: This 2-step kit was very similar to the Fresh Repair variation except this one brightens...like really brightens your face. Because of that, this would probably be an awesome kit to use in the morning on a natural no-makeup day as it really is brightening and gives you that bright fresh faced glow.

If you're looking for a good brightening mask then you should definitely check this out. Once you put on that step 2 cream you won't be disappointed.

My Beauty Diary 2-Step Deep Pore Cleansing Pack
Size: 1.5 oz
Clean out and cleanse your pores with this 2-step cleansing pack! Volcanic mineral mud are rich in minerals which absorb excess oils and purify the skin.

HOW TO USE
After cleansing, apply Step 1 the Volcanic Oil-Control Mud Mask. Rinse after 10-15 minutes. Then apply Step 2 the Glacier Water Soothing Repair Mask for 20-30 minutes. After removal, if there is any remaining serum on your face gently massage this into your skin with your fingertips.

VERDICT
This is an awesome 2 step kit. Step 1 consists of a thinner consistency volcanic mineral mud that is easy to spread and apply and there is more than enough to cover your entire face. While it does dry out, it's not that bad. It doesn't get super dry and tight like other mud/clay masks do. Oddly smelled of burnt matches after removal, but it wasn't a big deal.

This left my face so silky smooth and soft it was awesome. I wish it felt like that all the time. It did a great job of cleaning out my pores thereby making them appear "smaller", was a bit brightening, and my face was still nicely hydrated. Gave my face a nice satiny glow and my skin just looked healthy.

I then moved on to Step 2, which was the sheet mask. I love the texture of the My Beauty Diary sheet masks and this was no exception. It was made of the same super thin velvety soft and push cotton material which fit my face nicely all around. It pretty much covered my entire face...the entire sides of my face and the majority of my forehead, so since it fits my big head/face it will probably be a bit big for most people. The eye and mouth holes fit nicely as well.

This was very cooling and refreshing while on the face and after removal the serum wasn't sticky or tacky at all and it sank in quickly and nicely giving my face a nice boost of hydration on top of all the awesome goodness from the step 1 mud.

Definitely recommend giving this a try. This pretty much covers all of your bases. It does a great job of cleansing/purifying and tightening your pores, greatly improves the texture of your skin leaving it velvety silky smooth and soft, is a bit brightening, leaves you with a healthy satin glow, and it gives your skin a lovely boost of hydration. What more could you ask for? Totally worth the $3 and great for travel.

UPDATE: Not only did this give me immediate gratification amazing results, but those results actually lasted for like 2 days. The next day and the day after that my face was still going strong. It was hydrated, soft, and silky smooth and my face continued to have that healthy satin glow...so I took the opportunity to be lazy and not sheet mask.

The effects are now finally starting to fade, but 48 hours of awesome skin from one masking session...that is totally awesome and worth the $3 that I spent on this kit.

Snail Recovery Mask: Love the super thin super velvety soft texture of this sheet mask, which is also absolutely drenched in serum. Like the other repair mask, this too smells slightly of fermented alcohol but it's not that strong and you don't smell it while it's on the face. It fits nicely all around, but the eye and mouth holes are small...not a big deal though because the material stretches very easily.

This was very cooling and refreshing on the face, and once removed the remaining serum sank in quickly and nicely and wasn't sticky or tacky at all. It left my face nice and hydrated and smooth and soft.

Snail Fresh Repair Cream: This cream also smells like fermented alcohol...but it's not as strong as the cream from the other regular repair mask. This one wasn't that bad and dissipated rather quickly so the scent didn't bother me like it did with the other one.

As for the actual cream, this too was a thick white emollient cream but unlike the other repair cream this wasn't greasy or heavy at all. It was nice and lightweight and sank in rather quickly and nicely leaving my face very moisturized, super soft, and silky smooth.

OVERALL: Definitely prefer this fresh repair variation compared to the other regular repair duo. The scent on this one was weaker and therefore not so bothersome for me and the cream was more lightweight and not greasy whilst still being just as effective.

If you want a travel friendly 2-step kit that will provide a lot of hydration and leave your face feeling super soft and smooth, then this is a great one to try.

VERDICT
Snail Mask: Love the super thin super velvety soft texture of this sheet mask, which is absolutely drenched in serum which smells like sake...it's got this fermented alcohol smell. I have no tolerance for alcohol whatsoever and I don't enjoy the taste of it so I don't drink, but I did try it back when I was in college and I remember we went sake bombing once and this totally triggered that memory. You don't smell it while its on the face though thankfully. As for the fit, it was nice all around but the eye and mouth holes are small...not a big deal though because the material stretches very easily.

Felt very cooling and refreshing on the face, and once removed the remaining serum sank in quickly and nicely. Wasn't sticky or tacky at all and it left my face nice and hydrated and smooth and soft.

Snail Repair Cream: This also smells like fermented alcohol...but really strong. As soon as you open the packet it hits you, and you can actually smell it even after application...and I'm such a lightweight I felt like I was getting kind of drunk/sick just from the smell. After a couple minutes though it started to dissipate thank goodness and a few more minutes after that it completely disappeared.

As for the actual cream, it was a thick white emollient cream which did feel slightly heavy and a little bit greasy feeling upon initial application, so I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but it sank in rather quickly and nicely and once it sank in it didn't feel heavy or greasy at all. The cream was hydrating and made my face even feel even softer.

OVERALL: This was a really nice little 2-step kit that added a lot of hydration and left my face feeling super soft and smooth, but that smell. Sheet mask was fine, but the cream...even though it does eventually disappear, it didn't disappear fast enough. I did not enjoy those first several minutes after application. That fermented alcohol smell was so strong and intoxicating, it just made this totally not worth it for me.

Probably all psychological, but it literally made me nauseous drunk sick. Now if that sort of scent doesn't bother you then definitely give this a go because it really is nice kit that would be great for travel, but for me it's a pass.

VERDICT

Lipsome Hyaluronic Acid: I loved the texture of this cotton sheet mask. It was really silky smooth and soft and it reminded me of the Dr. Althea sheet mask that I had tried which also had a very silky smooth and soft texture. It was dripping with serum, but once I got it on my face I didn't have any issues with it dripping down my neck or anything like that and it adhered to my face nicely as well.

In terms of fit, the mask did fit well width wise covering the sides of my cheeks all the way up to my ears, but it was short lengthwise and didn't cover my entire forehead...quite a bit was left uncovered (drew a red line as I wasn't sure you'd be able to see the edge of the mask). I do have a bigger forehead so it's rare that a mask will completely cover it, but still it usually doesn't leave this much uncovered.
Also, I'm someone that has very small eyes and yet it barely fit around them so if you're someone with big eyes then the eye holes may be a bit small for you, BUT you can kind of stretch the material out a little bit so you can provide yourself with a little more leeway if you needed to. Same goes for the lips.
That aside, I did really enjoy this mask. It was very hydrating and left my skin soft and smooth. My skin wasn't really irritated this day (surprisingly, or not since I am trying out a new skincare routine that is going very well so it's probably due to that...review will be forthcoming) so I can't say if it was necessarily soothing/calming, but it did feel really nice on my face and felt cooling and refreshing. My face also had a nice subtle glow to it afterwards as well so aside from the minor size/fit issue (which like I said you can kind of stretch it out a little bit) I really enjoyed this mask. I would definitely recommend giving this mask a try and am glad I have four more of these to use in this set.
Mexico Cactus: Another great mask from My Beauty Diary. I really loved the texture and efficacy of this mask. Size/fit and adherence were same as the hyaluronic acid mask above. I used this right after using a product that was irritating to my face, and this actually kept my face from showing the effects of the irritation. I was expecting my face to become really red and splotchy with irritation bumps, but that didn't happen and it helped to calm down my skin...my face was getting itchy from being irritated, but this actually calmed it down. So far I've only tried these two masks from My Beauty Diary, but they are making quite the impression on me. I think these might be my favorite brand for sheet masks. I'll have to try out all the various masks I have from this line before making that an official statement, but so far it's pretty awesome and I get the feeling that the others are going to be just as good. I can't wait to try everything else out.

    1. Sorry you are encountering issues on IE. Admittedly I'm a mac user so I don't use IE and haven't used it for a very long time, but I did try to install the browser to see for myself and test it as you suggested, but apparently it can't be installed on a mac? Also, unfortunately, I'm not a master coder and just use a pre-formatted blogger template, so I'm not really sure what to do about the issues you are having. Wish I could've been more helpful...sorry =(

I hope to be back to more consistent blogging soon though. I'll be posting a "Life Update" in the next day or two which will expand upon this topic some more, so definitely check that out if you'd like. =)

  9. Hiya, I am really glad I have found this info.
Today bloggers publish only about gossips and net and this is really annoying.
A good website with interesting content, this is what I need.
Thank you for keeping this website, I will be visiting it.

Do you do newsletters? Can't find it.

    1. Thank you so much for the interest and support! I do not have a newsletter at this time (just a "follow by email" on the right side column of this blog), but hopefully down the line, if there is interest and as the blog grows (and as I learn more about the technical side of blogging and incorporating those things into my blog), I will be able to do that down the line. =)

similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam comments?
If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything you
can advise? I get so much lately it's driving me insane so any support is very

    1. Thank you for stopping by my blog. As for the spam, I did get a few back when I first started, but haven't had any since. I guess I've been lucky in that department, as I don't do anything in particular to combat that. Sorry to hear you're having such issues with it. I wish I had some useful advice to share, but unfortunately I don't...other than to activate the word verification function? I don't use it myself, but I believe it's meant to help reduce spam comments. I don't know what platform/host you are using, but if you're a fellow blogger user under the "settings" tab highlight the "posts, comments, and sharing" tab and under the comments section you can activate the word verification function. Hope that is of some help. =)

find this topic to be actually one thing that I feel
