VERDICT
July 30th, 2016: This is a very hyped up product in the world of Korean skincare and it's really nice, but is it spectacular? I don't know. First of all, makeup cleansers don't really excite me...it's a necessary evil, so that's probably a contributing factor (although it was interesting to see it emulsify when you add water), and while this is really nice and does a great job I wasn't necessarily blown away by it...but again makeup cleansers are not an exciting product to begin with, at least for me, so I feel like there's only so much excitement I can have for a product in this category unless it was like some obnoxiously mind bogglingly amazing super cleanser, which I don't think there is one that exists in this world yet.

However, I do prefer to use this over a straight cleansing oil. It's a lot more light weight and silky and slippery and nice which is great for me because I like to use this as a lubricant for my face to give myself a face massage vs. doing any actual cleansing. It does do a pretty good job of taking makeup off, but I prefer to take the majority of my makeup off with a micellar type cleansing water first. Then I use this to massage my face and get whatever has potentially been left behind whilst keeping my skin hydrated. This just melts onto the skin really nicely and provides a nice silky smooth slippery surface for you to run your fingers over your face and get a nice massage going without rubbing and tugging at your skin. Plus, it travels great since it's a balm and there is no worries about spillage or anything...and not that it's important, but the packaging is nice too.

There really wasn't another balm type of cleanser in the past, which I think really added to the hype of this product since it was more of a unique one of a kind type of product, but lately a lot of other companies have been coming out with their own cleanser balms as well so we'll have to see if Banila Co. retains it's number 1 spot, but I have been hearing that the cleanser balm from Heimish is really good and some people have actually said it's better. I did get a nice deluxe sample of the Heimish cleansing balm so I'll have to try it out and compare and I will definitely give you guys an update once I do.

As for recommending this product...if you haven't tried a cleanser balm before I would recommend that you give one a try and this is definitely a great one to start with...plus they have 4 different variations so you can choose the one that's right for you. Like I said, it does do a pretty good job of removing makeup and I love the texture of the balm and how lightweight it is compared to a straight cleansing oil. Even if you don't end up loving it as a cleanser though, you can still use it as a lubricant like I do to massage your face, so I don't think you can really go wrong with this.
