Love with Food Unboxing
I just got my very first subscription box today! It's a food subscription that I signed up for in January called "Love With Food". I didn't sign up in time for the January box, so I had to wait for the February box and it finally arrived in the mail today! = )
I've been seeing subscription box unboxings all over YouTube and I've been really wanting to try them out myself. There are so many different boxes out there that it was kinda overwhelming trying to figure out which one I wanted to try first. I wish I was rich enough to subscribe to them all, but I decided to go with "Love With Food" first because one of my resolutions this year, as I'm sure it is for many people, is to eat healthier.
I have an unhealthy junk food addiction, which I like to partly blame on my oral fixation...I'm one of those people who chews on my pens and ice and honestly sometimes when I'm by myself and I'm trying to figure out what I want I will just chomp on air...I will move my jaw up and down as if I were chewing on something. I'm not sure why I do that, but its just one of my quirks. I've gotten better over the years and it's not as bad as it used to be/or could have progressed to be because my mother was always on me about it, but I can't help it and I love crunchy foods.
Anywho, I digress but back to my original point...I've been looking for healthier all natural snack substitutes and their company is all about curating and sending out organic or all-natural snacks to its subscribers so I thought it would be the perfect box for me to try out.
Also, I know there are other healthy snack alternative subscription boxes out there but one of the big reasons why I went with "Love With Food" is because they are a charitable company that donates meals to those in need. According to their website: "For every box sold, we donate a meal to several food banks such as the Feeding America Network and Share Our Strength - No Kid Hungry. Join us to help end child hunger one meal at a time!". I think that is an awesome thing to do that just speaks volumes about what kind of company they are...also they have really cute packaging and as you guys know I'm a sucker for adorable packaging.
So without further ado...drumroll please!
Mardi Gras - Carnival
Here is the pamphlet that comes with the box...
Lemon Wafer Bites by Dolcetto
These were yummy, but a bit too sugary for my tastes. Can't say that I would go out of my way to purchase these, but if they were lying around I would have some...not too many because like I said they were a bit too sweet for my taste. Also, I'm not a huge fan of lemon flavored foods, not that I dislike it, but in the spectrum of various tastes that food comes in, I am a strawberry (or any type of berry) flavor girl.
Traditional Hot Chocolate by Monbana
In the midst of a heatwave out here in LA, so I haven't tried this yet but will give a review once I've had a chance to taste test this. It looks like it's supposed to rain and get cooler again next week so I will give it a try then.
Olive Oil Potato Chips by Boulder Canyon
Super yummy. I feel like it's hard to go wrong with potato chips though. It was lookin really greasy when I opened the bag and it rubbed off on my fingers, but it's olive oil which is the good kind of oil and not the bad one so that's good. Perfect hint of saltiness and super crunchy just the way I like it. This totally hit the spot. When I was at the grocery store the next day, I went to buy myself a big bag of this, but they were totally sold out. I ended up getting the salt and vinegar ones from Boulder Canyon which I haven't tried yet, but the other flavors too were like sold out or running very low. Guess other people love Boulder Canyon chips too!
Baked Mac N' Cheese Puffs by Snikiddy
These were good. They remind me of Cheetos...the white cheddar ones. It's been a while since I've had the white cheddar Cheetos, but from what I remember I feel like this could totally be a dupe for that. Not something that I would have all the time, but whenever I get a craving for Cheetos, I would totally go and buy these instead to chomp on.
Original Creole Seasoning by Tony Chachere's
I made some oven baked french fries and used the seasoning to lightly season my french fries and they turned out really well. At first I was afraid I had made too big of a batch for the seasoning that I had on hand and the potato was looking pretty white and you couldn't really see the seasoning so I thought it was going to be a total fail, but when all was said and done the fries actually turned out really yummy. It was the perfect hint of flavor and it had a bit of a kick to it. Not too overwhelming spicy, but just enough.
Peanut Butter 'N Honey Energy Bar by Honey Stinger
Didn't love it, but didn't hate it. If I had some lying around or someone gave one to me I would eat it, but I can't say that I would spend my own money to go buy it. I think I would prefer getting some Kind bars instead...although I do like that it has 23 different vitamins and minerals and calcium...which kinda makes me do a double take, but at the end of the day I think I would just go for a Kind bar instead.
Milk Chocolate Mini Pieces by Divine Chocolate
& Toffee Crunch Trufflecremes by Dilettante
Haven't tried the Divine Milk Chocolates yet, but I did try the Toffee Crunch which were ok. Again, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate 'em either. A bit on the sweet side for me, and it was good but not good enough for me to want to invest my calories on it...I think I would rather spend my calories on something else.
